Parga & Sivota

Our Recommended Properties in Parga & Sivota

Parga

Set around a couple of picutresque bays, Parga is quintessentially Greek.  Shuttered houses, colourful waterfront tavernas and charming cobbled lanes – Parga old town and its harbour are filled with boats from Corfu and Paxos.  The sand and shingle beaches are wonderful spots to laze in the sunshine with the crystal clear waters perfect for a refreshing swim – these are some of the finest beaches in Greece.

The town itself shelters behind a rocky outcrop which is topped by a Venetian fortress which is illuminated after sunset and the narrow lanes climb the hillside up to the old Turkish market.  After dark, there are traditional tavernas and just a few bars along the waterfront.  The town beach is more pebbled, but over the headland, Valtos and Lichnos beaches are long, sheltered sandy beaches which offer a variety of watersports and tavernas.  Watertaxis run frequently from the harbour or Valtos is around a 20 minute walk from town.

Parga is regarded by many as being the most beautiful town in Greece – its delightful location and fantastic beaches with crystal clear waters make it an ideal holiday location for families and couples.

Sivota

Sivota remains one of the least discovered and unspoilt areas of Greece.  Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and surrounded by lush pine forests, cypress trees and olive groves the area is quite simply astounding.

The harbour remains the focal point of the village, with numerous harbourside shops, tavernas and restaurants where fish is served sometimes straight from the fishing boats.  Flotillas of yachts often moor in the small marina.  The surrounding coastline offers rocky coves, sandy beaches and stretches of coarse almost-white sand.  Just off-shore are 3 wooded islets where sometimes deserted beaches can be found – hire a boat, take a picnic and explore!

The area is only served by a limited public transport service, so it is recommended that a car is hired to best explore – with easily reachable areas including the inland lakeside town of Ioannina, the preserved mountain villages of Zagorochoria and even the famours monasteries of Meteora (though this would need an overnight stay).

Holidays in Sivota are a fantastic choice for those looking for a beautiful, unspoilt area that retains its’ traditional Greek heritage.  Sivota is a haven for those looking to truly relax and kick back.
