Hydra

Hydra truly is the gem of the Saronic Gulf and is unique among the Greek islands as the one free of any wheeled vehicles – no cars.  No scooters.  Just tiny cobbled lanes, people and the islands mode of transport – donkeys!  Exquisitely preserved stone architecture, a maze of criss-crossing rural pathways across the island and deep blue waters make Hydra what it is today – chic yet traditional and earthy. Hydra is best accessed by boat from Piraeus and takes around 2 hours, it's an ideal island to combine with a city break in Athens.
