Kithira

Located 12km off the tip of the Peloponnese, and often veiled in sea mists, the island of Kithira is a rugged and unspoilt island with a wilderness of lush valleys, canyons and cliffs that fall abruptly into the vivide blue sea.  Despite its proximity to the Peloponnese, the island is considered part of the Ionian Islands, and whilst the cypress trees help remind visitors of this, there is a feeling of something trapped in time – almost as though the island has not quite joined the 21st Century.

Tourism is very low key except during July and August – even then it could never be described as frenetic!  For the rest of the year Kithira and its superb beaches are wonderfully peaceful.
