Halki

The former sponge-diving island of Halki makes for an irresistible first impression thanks to the beautiful waterfront mansions surrounding the harbour.  Visitors experience the best of everything Greek – an old fisherman shelling prawns, an Orthodox priest scurrying down a narrow alleyway, brightly painted boats bobbing around in the harbour and little to do apart from relax and enjoy it – perhaps with the odd refreshing swim in the azure waters that surround the island.
The island of Halki is best reached by boat from the island of Rhodes and takes around 2 hours depending on waiting time for the ferry.
