Beachside boutique hotel
Bellevalia Hydra is the rebirth of a historic island residence overlooking the Aegean Sea. Set within a beautifully restored 19th-century stone mansion near Plakes Beach in the coastal area of Vlichos, this intimate boutique hotel blends heritage architecture with refined contemporary design.

Originally built by a sponge merchant more than a century ago, the house later became a cherished summer retreat for the Rampias family. In 2002, Antonis Rampias reacquired the property and carefully restored it, preserving its original character while transforming it into an elegant hospitality retreat. When the hotel first opened in 2008 it quickly became one of Hydra’s most admired addresses.

Today, a new chapter begins with the introduction of the name Bellevalia Hydra. Inspired by the delicate blue Bellevalia wildflower native to the island, the name symbolises renewal, grace and quiet resilience — values reflected throughout the property’s design and philosophy.

The mansion has been thoughtfully reimagined to honour Hydra’s architectural heritage. Lime-washed stone walls, natural wood textures and cool marble surfaces create calm, light-filled interiors where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary comfort. Surrounding gardens of olive trees, citrus and aromatic herbs add to the tranquil atmosphere, with views stretching across the sea and rugged hillside.

Accommodation consists of just seven luxurious suites and an exclusive seafront villa, offering privacy and a personalised stay. Each suite is inspired by the colours and moods of the four seasons and designed for comfort, accommodating up to four guests.

Hospitality at Bellevalia Hydra reflects a long-standing family tradition of warm, attentive service. A dedicated concierge team assists with island experiences including private boat transfers, sailing excursions around the Saronic Gulf, art gallery visits, hiking routes and recommendations for secluded swimming spots.

Just steps from the property lies Plakes Beach, one of Hydra’s most beautiful and accessible coves. Guests can enjoy sun loungers, umbrellas and a beach bar serving refreshing drinks throughout the day, while nearby Tassia’s Tavern offers traditional island cuisine inspired by generations of family recipes.

With its intimate scale, rich history and serene seaside setting, Bellevalia Hydra offers a sophisticated yet authentic escape on one of Greece’s most charming islands.
