Windmill Villa is the only preserved windmill in the Koufonisia Islands that now operates as a distinctive holiday residence. This historic landmark has been carefully restored to offer a unique accommodation experience on the island of Ano Koufonisi in the Cyclades.

The peaceful setting and natural surroundings make the windmill an ideal retreat for relaxation and tranquillity, with easy access to the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea. The property stands just a short distance from the shoreline, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the coastal landscape and the calm atmosphere of the island.

The accommodation is arranged across two upper floors with living facilities on the ground floor. The ground floor includes a small living area, a fully equipped kitchen and a WC. A marble staircase leads to the first floor bedroom with two single beds, wardrobe, bedside furniture and reading lamps. A wooden staircase continues to the second floor bedroom, also with two single beds and the option of an additional small bed for a child. The original mill wheel and axle, which form part of the restored mechanism, are displayed in this room.

The villa accommodates up to four guests comfortably, with the possibility of a fifth child using an additional bed. The building functions as a single private residence and cannot be rented by separate parties.

Located approximately 15 metres from the sea, the property has access to a private rocky shoreline ideal for swimming and relaxation. The elevated position offers panoramic views across the Aegean towards the islands of Naxos, Kato Koufonisi, Glaronisi, Keros and Amorgos.

The windmill was originally built around 1830, during the period when settlers from Amorgos arrived on the island. It operated as a working mill until approximately 1956 and has since been classified by the Ministry of Culture as a protected monument from the pre-industrial period.

The building stands on the southern coast of Ano Koufonisi in the area known as Potamia. The surrounding land covers approximately 522 m² and the windmill sits around 300 metres from the edge of the island’s main settlement, close to the small harbour of Parianos.

The surrounding area offers a variety of outdoor activities including swimming, fishing, scuba diving, walking around the island, photography of the local flora, boat excursions and visits to neighbouring islands such as Keros, Kato Koufonisi, Schinoussa, Iraklia and Donousa.

Windmill Villa combines historical character with a rare coastal location, offering a memorable stay within one of the Cyclades’ most distinctive heritage buildings.
